Is your book manuscript ready for the next step?

Before investing in editing, design, or publication, answer these diagnostic questions honestly. Each one reveals a critical readiness signal that determines whether your book project will move forward smoothly — or stall halfway through.

Have you completed a full first draft of your manuscript?
Partial drafts require developmental guidance before editing can begin.
Do you know your target reader and where your book fits in the market?
Genre positioning and audience clarity affect every editorial decision downstream.
Are you open to structural changes, not just surface corrections?
The strongest manuscripts emerge when authors embrace deep revision.
Have you set a realistic timeline — at least three months for the editorial cycle?
Rushed timelines compromise quality and increase revision rounds.
Do you understand the difference between traditional, hybrid, and self-publishing?
Your publishing route shapes editing scope, design needs, and distribution strategy.

Book services that transform manuscripts into published works

At Prime Book View, we work alongside authors at every stage of the book lifecycle — from the tangled first draft through structural editing, cover design consultation, typesetting guidance, and publishing strategy. Our editorial team has guided fiction, non-fiction, academic, and memoir projects to completion, with a particular focus on authors based in Hong Kong and across the Asia-Pacific region.

We do not believe in assembly-line editing. Every manuscript receives a dedicated editorial lead who understands your genre, your voice, and your goals. Whether you are preparing a literary novel for agent submission or a business book for self-publication, we calibrate our approach to fit the work — not the other way around.

Who we work best with

Our services are designed for serious authors. Here is how to know if we are the right fit for your book project.

First-time authors with a completed draft

You have written the book but need expert eyes to shape it for readers. We provide developmental and line editing that respects your voice while strengthening structure, pacing, and clarity.

Experienced writers seeking a fresh perspective

You have published before but want a different editorial partnership. We bring candid, constructive feedback without ego, helping you push past familiar patterns into stronger work.

Non-fiction professionals writing for authority

Business leaders, consultants, and academics who need a book that positions them as a thought leader. We help organise complex expertise into a compelling, readable narrative.

Self-publishing authors who want professional quality

You are managing your own publication but refuse to compromise on editorial and design standards. We provide the same rigour that traditional publishers demand.

Your book journey with us

Every project follows a tailored path, but most manuscripts move through these natural stages with our guidance.

Discovery conversation

We begin with a free 30-minute call to understand your manuscript, your goals, and where you are in the writing process. No obligation, no pressure — just an honest assessment of what your book needs next.

Diagnostic sample edit

We edit a sample chapter to demonstrate our approach and ensure stylistic compatibility. You see exactly how we work before committing to a full engagement.

Editorial engagement

Based on your manuscript's needs, we propose a tailored scope — whether that is a full developmental edit, a focused line edit, or a combined package. Timelines and milestones are agreed upfront.

Revision and refinement

After delivering the edited manuscript, we schedule a debrief call to walk through key changes and answer questions. One round of follow-up review is included in every engagement.

Publication readiness

When your manuscript is polished, we help you navigate the next steps — whether that means preparing a query package, setting up self-publishing accounts, or coordinating with designers and printers.

Common questions from authors

Pricing depends on manuscript length, genre complexity, and the depth of structural work required. After reviewing a sample and discussing your goals, we provide a fixed-fee quote so there are no surprises. Most full-length developmental edits for manuscripts between 60,000 and 100,000 words fall within a range that reflects the intensive, multi-week nature of the work.

We do not act as agents, but our publishing strategy consultation includes query letter development, synopsis writing, and guidance on identifying suitable agents and publishers for your genre and market. Several of our clients have secured representation after working with us on their submission packages.

Our editorial services are currently available for English-language manuscripts only. However, we have experience working with bilingual authors and can advise on translation considerations for manuscripts originally drafted in Chinese or other languages before being rendered into English.

We prefer Microsoft Word documents (.docx) with standard formatting — double-spaced, 12-point serif font, one-inch margins. We can also work with Google Docs. For final proofreading stages, we accept PDF files with annotations enabled. If you use Scrivener or another writing tool, we can discuss export options during our initial conversation.
